Population: Wikidata’s figure for the whole people (P1082; where it gives only one country’s figures, their sum), as each item dates it. Counts of peoples rest on censuses and self-identification and differ between sources; a people without a figure is left out. Peoples from Wikidata: indigenous peoples with articles in 18 or more Wikipedia editions and other ethnic groups with 45 or more; peoples of the past, umbrella groupings and the nations a sovereign state is named for are left out. Indigenous: an instance of indigenous people (Wikidata Q103817) or a kind of it. A people is a point at the centre of its homeland: Wikidata’s, else that of its language (Glottolog), else one set by hand for a few well-known peoples; it marks where a people lives, not a border. Names in the people’s own language count as answers (“Diné” for the Navajo).
