How well known each sea area is: the number of Wikipedia language editions with an article on it (Wikidata sitelinks). Sea areas rank by fame because the area of many is not known; rank by area for the largest. Oceans and seas as the IHO’s S-23 draws them, and the bays, gulfs, straits, sounds, firths and inlets inside them from Natural Earth, OpenStreetMap and Wikidata (8 or more Wikipedia editions), each inside its parent (James Bay in Hudson Bay, in the Arctic Ocean). Countries are those whose land lies on the area’s outline; the Bodies of Water and Straits sets’ items keep theirs.
